The Producers Guild of India has issued a strongly worded statement expressing concern over what it describes as a growing trend of actors, directors, and technicians backing out of projects at the last minute, causing significant disruption to film productions.
According to the Guild, it has received formal complaints from member companies Excel Entertainment and Panorama Studios International regarding situations where commitments were allegedly withdrawn just days before the commencement of principal photography.

While the statement did not name any individuals, it comes amid recent industry discussions surrounding high-profile exits from major projects. The Guild emphasised that such actions can result in substantial financial losses for producers and create ripple effects across the industry.
In its statement, the organisation noted that these incidents have “serious and far-reaching consequences” and undermine the trust, professionalism, and mutual respect that form the foundation of the filmmaking ecosystem.
The Guild further highlighted that the impact extends beyond producers alone. It stated that sudden exits can damage a project’s credibility and brand value while also affecting the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians, crew members, and other professionals who depend on film productions for work.
At the same time, the Producers Guild reiterated its commitment to maintaining a free and fair business environment. It stressed that it does not support any form of obstruction or disruption to content creation and believes that actions contrary to this principle harm the collaborative spirit of the entertainment industry.
Concluding its statement, the Guild urged all parties involved in such disputes to seek amicable resolutions and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the film fraternity.
