Production has officially begun on Asur Season 3, with Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti returning to lead the psychological crime thriller. Filming commenced in Mumbai on August 30 and is scheduled to continue across multiple cities over the next three months.
Arshad will reprise his role as forensic expert Dhananjay Rajput, while Barun returns as Nikhil Nair. Their characters have remained at the centre of the series since its first season, investigating crimes connected to mythology, psychology and the conflict between order and chaos.
Ridhi Dogra, Anupriya Goenka and Vishesh Bansal are also returning for the new chapter. The ensemble will expand further with Ahsaas Channa and Shweta Basu Prasad joining the series in pivotal roles.
The production team is aiming to complete filming by December 2026. Although an official streaming date has not been announced, the third season is reportedly being prepared for a mid-2027 premiere on JioHotstar.
The upcoming season will mark Gaurav’s directorial debut. He will share directing responsibilities with advertising filmmaker Shwetabh Varma, who has previously worked on campaigns for brands including JK Cement WallMaxX, Domino’s and Yamaha.
The next chapter is expected to explore darker psychological conflicts and incorporate further elements of Indian mythology. The struggle between chaos and order will continue to shape the narrative, with the returning forensic experts facing a new phase of the larger threat established in the previous seasons.
With production now underway, the third season brings together its original leads, several returning supporting actors and new additions to the cast. It also begins a new creative phase for the franchise, with Gaurav Shukla moving from creator and writer to director.
The team is expected to continue filming until the end of 2026 before preparing the season for its planned streaming premiere in 2027.
