Yash and Kiara Advani’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups completed its nine-day extended opening week with an estimated ₹128 crore net from its Hindi version in India. Although the film began its theatrical run with a strong opening, its collections declined sharply from the second day onwards.
The Hindi version opened with approximately ₹50 crore net on its first day. It subsequently recorded around ₹21 crore on day two, representing a drop of more than 50% from its opening-day collection.
The downward movement continued over the following days. Toxic added approximately ₹17 crore on its third day, followed by ₹13.50 crore on day four and ₹13 crore on day five. This brought its five-day extended opening weekend total to around ₹114.50 crore net in Hindi.
Its performance weakened further once the regular weekdays began. The film collected an estimated ₹4 crore on day six before showing a marginal improvement with ₹4.50 crore on day seven. It then fell to approximately ₹2.75 crore on day eight. On its ninth day, the Hindi version earned an estimated ₹2.25 crore net. With this, the film concluded its extended opening week at approximately ₹128 crore net in the Hindi market.
Current trade projections indicate that the Hindi version may conclude its theatrical run at around ₹140 crore net if it continues following the same trajectory. That would leave approximately ₹12 crore to be added after its nine-day total.
The arrival of Mirzapur: The Movie is also expected to affect the number of screens and shows available to Toxic during its second week. With collections already operating at a much lower level than the opening weekend, the new competition could make it difficult for the film to register a major recovery.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash and Kiara Advani alongside Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. The film marked Yash’s return to cinemas after a gap of four years.
