Actor Shilpa Shinde has made a startling revelation about one of the most controversial chapters of her career. Speaking on a recent podcast, the former Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain star admitted that the sexual harassment allegations she had filed against producer Sanjay Kohli during their highly publicised dispute were false.
Reflecting on the controversy, Shinde claimed she felt cornered at the time and believed she had no other option but to fight her battle. According to the actress, the complaint was filed amid an intense dispute with the show’s producers, which eventually ended in a settlement.
Shinde stated that she is speaking publicly about the matter for the first time and acknowledged that the allegations were untrue. She further revealed that the dispute was ultimately resolved after a settlement, following which pending payments owed to her were cleared.
The actress also spoke about the circumstances surrounding the legal complaint, claiming that she was advised that serious allegations would be required for an FIR to be registered. She added that no producers had come forward to support Sanjay Kohli during the controversy, which influenced her decision at the time.
Expressing regret over how events unfolded, Shinde revealed that even some of her close associates had advised her against taking such a step. However, she maintained that she felt trapped in the situation and saw no alternative.
She also disclosed that part of the settlement involved an understanding that neither side would continue discussing the matter publicly in the media.
Interestingly, despite the bitter fallout, Shinde eventually returned to work on Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. She said her decision was influenced by writer Manoj Santoshi, whose wishes she wanted to honour. According to the actress, her relationship with the team has improved significantly over the years, and she now shares a cordial bond with those involved.
Shinde originally played the beloved character Angoori Bhabhi in the popular sitcom, alongside Aasif Sheikh, Saumya Tandon, and Rohitashv Gour.
Her remarks have reignited discussion around the long-running controversy, particularly because of her admission that the allegations were false and her confirmation that the matter was eventually settled between the parties involved.
