T-Series secures 50-year global music rights for Shah Rukh Khan’s King

T-Series will hold the worldwide commercial music rights to Shah Rukh Khan’s King for 50 years. The agreement, facilitated by Red Chillies Entertainment through Zee Music Company, covers the film’s audio, music videos and related publishing interests.

The announcement also clears up speculation about a shorter licensing deal. T-Series has described the arrangement as a five-decade acquisition, rather than a temporary handover of the soundtrack.

Clarifying its position, a company spokesperson said, “There is no transient licensing structure or short-term handover at play.” The label said its rights extend across the film’s songs, videos and publishing assets globally.

The soundtrack is expected to feature compositions by Sachin-Jigar. Anirudh Ravichander is associated with the background music, while a collaboration between Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh is also expected. That musical pairing has not been presented as a confirmed release in the announcement.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features Shah Rukh Khan alongside Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan. The action film is scheduled for a Christmas theatrical release.

For T-Series, the agreement extends its involvement well beyond the film’s cinema run, placing its music catalogue under the label’s commercial control for the next five decades.
