The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, has dropped a new trailer, offering a deeper look into its ambitious retelling of Homer’s legendary epic. The film presents a refreshed cinematic perspective on the timeless story, building anticipation ahead of its July 2026 release.
The trailer centres on Matt Damon’s Odysseus, who is seen reflecting on his long journey home while speaking to Charlize Theron’s Calypso. Through his narration, viewers are introduced to his family, including Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Tom Holland as Telemachus.
The story highlights the aftermath of the Trojan War, with Odysseus struggling to return to Ithaca while his kingdom faces turmoil in his absence. Back home, suitors compete for power, with Robert Pattinson’s Antinous emerging as a key antagonist, attempting to claim the throne by marrying Penelope. His conflict with Telemachus adds emotional and political tension to the narrative.
The trailer also teases the dangers of Odysseus’s journey, including the first glimpse of the iconic Cyclops, hinting at the trials he must overcome before reaching home.
