Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor has reached the No. 1 position on Prime Video India’s overall movie trending chart after becoming available for regular streaming.
The film had initially made its digital debut through Prime Video’s rental service following its theatrical run. During this phase, Governor climbed to the top of the platform’s rental chart, moving ahead of several international titles, including Obsession.
After its transition from the rental model to streaming access for all Prime Video subscribers in India, the film maintained its momentum and secured the leading position on the platform’s overall movie trending chart.
The two rankings represent separate stages of the film’s digital release. Its first No. 1 position came from the rental chart, while the latest ranking follows its wider availability to subscribers.
Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar, Governor is set against the backdrop of India’s 1991 financial crisis. The story focuses on an unsung individual whose decisions played an important role during a period of severe economic uncertainty.
