Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is now reported to be headed for a December 4 theatrical release. Earlier coverage pointed to November 20, but a revised report names the December date instead. The makers have not independently confirmed the revised schedule in an announcement we could verify.
The Central Board of Film Certification cleared the four-minute, 43-second trailer on November 4 with a U/A 16+ rating. That rating applies to the trailer, not necessarily to the feature itself. Jio Studios is handling theatrical distribution in India.
If Maatrubhumi opens on December 4, it will share its release date with Eetha, the Shraddha Kapoor film directed by Laxman Utekar. The reported date would put Salman’s film two weeks later than the November 20 slot previously cited.
Apoorva Lakhia’s film was first announced as Battle of Galwan. It draws on the June 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, with Salman playing Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. Chitrangda Singh also stars, and Salman Khan Films is producing.
Earlier this week, authors Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh said they were no longer associated with the film. Their account of the Galwan clash in the India’s Most Fearless series had initially brought them onto the project. In a joint statement, they explained that the film had since moved beyond the account in their book.
