Audiences have several new Hindi releases to choose from this week, with romantic action, period drama, comedy, thrillers and reality television all joining the entertainment calendar. While Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 are heading to cinemas, four other titles will become available across major streaming platforms.
1. Awarapan 2
Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam in Awarapan 2, which will arrive in theatres on August 14, 2026. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the romantic action film also stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, Atul Kumar, Aniruddh Rawal and Puran Gabbi.
The story follows Shivam, an outlaw in Hong Kong who remains burdened by his past while working for an influential employer. His latest assignment requires him to watch over Reema, a young woman determined to escape her troubled circumstances. Shivam eventually chooses to defy his orders and places himself in danger to help her gain freedom.
2. Batwara 1947
Also releasing in cinemas on August 14 is Batwara 1947. The period drama is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and features Sunny Deol, Preity G. Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, Khhushi Hajare and Kanikka Kapur.
Set amid the Partition of 1947, the film examines displacement, identity and the pain of losing one’s home. Its characters are forced to make difficult choices as tensions rise around them, leaving them to protect their families while holding on to their values in a rapidly changing environment.
3. Cocktail 2
For viewers looking for a romantic comedy, Cocktail 2 will begin streaming on Netflix on August 14. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film brings Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna together in the lead roles.
The narrative explores the complicated space between love and friendship. During a lively journey, existing relationships begin to change as unexpected emotions emerge, leaving the characters to navigate uncertainty and shifting romantic equations.
4. Aakhri Sawaal
Aakhri Sawaal will make its digital debut on Lionsgate Play on August 14. Directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the drama thriller stars Sanjay Dutt, Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh and Sameera Reddy.
At the centre of the story is scholar Vicky Hegde, whose PhD thesis is rejected. He publicly accuses his respected mentor, Professor Gopal Nadkarni, of institutional bias, setting off a conflict that moves beyond the academic world and develops into a televised confrontation.
5. The Traitors Season 2
Reality television fans can watch The Traitors Season 2 on Prime Video from August 13. Hosted by Karan Johar, the new season features contestants including Abhishek Malhan, Dalip Tahil, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Rhea Chakraborty, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari and Ranveer Brar.
The reality show is built around secrecy, deception and psychological strategy. Hidden Traitors must eliminate the innocent contestants while preventing their identities from being discovered. Meanwhile, the remaining players must question their alliances and identify those secretly working against them.
6. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata
Completing this week’s lineup is Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, which will stream on ZEE5 from August 14. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the survival thriller stars Kangana Ranaut alongside Girija Oak Godbole, Smita Tambe, Suhita Thatte, Asha Shelar, Priya Berde, Esha Dey and Rasika Aghase.
Inspired by events from 2008, the film focuses on the courage displayed by nurses and hospital staff during a dangerous crisis. Its story follows their efforts to protect more than 400 patients while putting their own safety at risk.
