Production has officially begun on Scam 2010, the latest chapter in the acclaimed streaming franchise. Hansal Mehta has returned to direct the new series, with Siddharth Bodke stepping into the lead role.
The upcoming chapter will trace the journey of a man who begins with small savings schemes and gradually builds an extensive financial empire. The narrative will examine his rise, the influence he acquires along the way and the public scrutiny that eventually follows.
Hansal described the series as a story centred on ambition, influence and the arrogance that can accompany both. According to the filmmaker, the new chapter explores how one of India’s largest business empires was constructed on belief and what happened when that belief began to collapse.
The director added that the series will follow the rise of both the empire and the man behind it, whose growing power led him to mistake success for invincibility.
The project also marks Hansal’s return to the director’s chair within the Scam franchise. His association with the series began with Scam 1992, which later paved the way for the property to develop into an anthology about ambition, money, power and human behaviour.
Siddharth said the complexity of the central character and the scale of the production drew him to the role. The actor will portray different dimensions of the character, including his passion, authority, flaws, ascent and eventual downfall.
He described the opportunity to play such a layered personality under Hansal’s direction as an exciting experience. The role places Siddharth at the centre of a story built around the creation and collapse of a powerful financial empire.
Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, Scam 2010 is currently in production. The series will stream exclusively on Sony LIV, although its premiere date has not yet been announced.
