Southern superstar Rajnikanth’s movies are known to be a one man show. His name is enough for producers and distributors to put in their money on his projects. It can be proved with the kind of unimaginable numbers the superstar’s projects does at the box office, for instance, his recent release ‘2.0’ by director Shankar alongside Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is all set to cross the 500 crore mark.

He is one of the most celebrated South Indian actors of the Indian Film industry who has never failed to cast  a spell over his fans be it with his mass movies or his off screen humble personality. The south superstar started his career in 1975 and has continued stunning the box office  ever since, with his stardom has remained unquestioned regardless. However, there are times when his movies didn’t come close to the expectations and failed to impress at the Box office.

Let’s take a peek into the list of movies where Thalaivar’s magic weakens to charm the audience.

Konchadiyaan.

Directed by Soundarya, the superstars’s daughter, ‘Kochadaiyaan’ was first of its kind 3D animated movie to be made in Tamil and had giant expectations attached to it, but the movie failed to stand by it. The film received cold response due to primary problems associated with the animation and scripting, which was the USP of the movie along with Rajni being a part of it.

Linga

After the terrible failure of his movie Kochadaiiyaan, fans thought the hotshot Rajinikanth will make a surprising rebound with ‘Lingaa’. It is relatively inedible, yet the Rajinikanth-Sonakshi Sinha featuring movie bombed again in the first week of its release. The movie  stretched  with a story line that fumbled with a protracted peak.

Rajni’s movies are known for its engaging factor, even with the repeated undefeated and super stardom formulas thrown in to please his mass fan following. However, despite it all being used in the movie, it failed to impress his fans and entertain the mass audience.

Aatank Hi Aatank

The crime based drama ‘Aatank Hi Aatank’ which also featured Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla was another movie Thalaiva might regret of doing.  The movie which was speculated to be highly inspired by best seller Maria Puzo’s ‘Godfather’ failed to keep the audience glued to the screen.

The story line of the movie followed the hardships of a poor man surviving the brutal life at the footpath of Bombay and his life taking a U-turn when a gangster asks him to work for him.  Directed by Dilip Shankar, the movie failed badly to create an impact inspite of the fact  that the film had Rajnikanth in it.

Insaaniyat ka Devta

The multi starrer movie which  was released in the year 1993 failed awkwardly at the box-office, making it one of the worst movies of the superstar’s career.  With scenes and songs arranged haphazardly and poor direction, made this movie perform badly at the box office. The movie also had Jaya Prada, Manisha Koirala, Raaj Kumar, Shakti Kumar in the lead cast.

Tyagi

Helmed by ‘Laal Badshaah’ famed director K. C. Bokadia, ‘Tyagi’ was a family drama movie portraying the story of a brother who sacrificed all his belongings for his siblings well being. The movie failed unexpectedly at the box office.  The film was the remake of a Tamil film ‘Dharma Durai’ and Rajnikanth in the lead.
