Actress Mischa Barton reveals that she was bullied on the set of the popular show “The O.C”. She says that it was a bit complex. For her, it all began quite early because it had much to do with adding Rachel (Bilson) at the last moment as, post the first season, a series regular and evening out everybody’s pay, and sort of general bullying from some of the men on set.

Additionally, she admits that despite this she also loved the show and had to build up her own walls and deal with it by finding ways of getting around. Also, she had to take responsibility for the fame that was thrust specifically at her. She felt unprotected by dealing with this amount of invasion which she was having in her personal life. It is the apt way she put it.

Barton felt ashamed as well, before now, about mentioning what happened. She claims that to have always felt ashamed in some way when it comes to talking about what went on behind the camera because she always has maintained a sense of privacy and has been very much aware of people’s feelings.

The actress believes that we’re now living in an era where we can be open speaking out about our experiences and women are strong enough to come clean about what was really going on behind the scenes and how they were being treated. She thinks that her resignation from the show after the third season was the “best thing” for her health.

She admits to being getting offers from big films at the time but she’s turned them down all down. She says that she has always been supportive in The Sixth Sense and any of those things. Barton further opens up about her dream to be offered lead roles, and that’s exactly what happened. She thinks it was a wonderful thing for her and her health as she felt unprotected by my cast and crew at that point.
