Michael B. Jordan, renowned for his electrifying portrayal of the vengeful Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, might be making a dramatic comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Recent rumours suggest that the fan-favourite villain could potentially reprise his role in one of Marvel’s upcoming Avengers films, specifically Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Killmonger’s character left an indelible mark on the MCU, leaving behind an intense rivalry with Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa that became one of Marvel’s most iconic on-screen confrontations. Although his character met his demise in Black Panther, he later appeared in alternate forms—first as a variant in the show What If…? and then in the Ancestral Plane during Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. These appearances have fueled speculation about his potential return.

The Cosmic Circus recently reported that Jordan’s return might be a reality. During a December Discord Q&A, Alex Perez shared a rumour he had heard: “There’s a rumour I heard through the grapevine: Michael B. Jordan may be returning for one of the upcoming Avengers films.”

While nothing has been officially confirmed, Jordan has expressed his desire to revisit his MCU role in the past. In an interview with Extra TV, he stated, “I don’t know if it’s a possibility. At one point or another, being in the Marvel Universe was like a dream come true. If there was an opportunity for me to come back, of course, I would.”

Fans have long speculated about Killmonger’s potential redemption arc, especially before Shuri (Letitia Wright) took on the mantle of Black Panther. Although such a storyline didn’t materialize in Wakanda Forever, Marvel’s multiverse approach could potentially bring him back.

If Jordan returns, he would join a growing list of rumoured comebacks in Avengers: Doomsday, including Victor Von Doom, reportedly played by Robert Downey Jr.; Chris Evans reprising his role as Captain America; and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. Marvel fans eagerly await official confirmation, but the possibility of Jordan’s Killmonger donning his suit once again has already generated widespread excitement.
