Avengers: Doomsday to release in India on December 17, a day before the US: Report

Indian audiences may get to watch Avengers: Doomsday a day before its US release. The Marvel film is reportedly set to arrive in cinemas across India on December 17, 2026, rather than December 18.

The Thursday opening would give the superhero ensemble a four-day first weekend. It follows the release approach used for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which also opened on a Thursday in India.

That film has set a substantial benchmark for Marvel’s next release. According to trade estimates, Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned ₹58 crore net, or ₹70.50 crore gross, on its opening day in India. Its reported lifetime business reached ₹483.50 crore net and ₹643.75 crore gross, including 3D collections, making it the country’s highest-grossing Hollywood release.

Whether Avengers: Doomsday can challenge those figures will only become clear once it reaches theatres. The earlier start, however, would give it an additional day of business before its first Sunday.

Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, with Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely credited as writers. It is set to be the 39th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and forms part of Phase Six.

The ensemble includes Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Letitia Wright and several other returning Marvel performers.

The story will continue with Avengers: Secret Wars, currently expected to release on December 17, 2027. For Indian viewers awaiting Doomsday, the latest reported date brings the countdown forward by a day.
