Ramayana advance bookings face hurdle as distributors reportedly seek 60% share

The planned Dussehra launch of Ramayana’s advance bookings has hit a commercial hurdle. Ticket sales for the Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi film have opened at select cinemas, but a wider rollout reportedly faces delays over revenue-sharing negotiations.

Distributors are said to be seeking 60% of ticket revenue in the first week, followed by 50% in the second and 40% in the third. The usual terms cited for major releases are 52.5%, 45% and 37.5%, respectively.

The higher demand has reportedly met resistance from exhibitors, with both sides still discussing the terms. A broader opening of advance sales could depend on reaching an agreement.

Bookings were scheduled to begin on October 20. By 9:30 am, however, availability remained limited. INOX Korum Mall in Thane was among the cinemas selling tickets, along with AMB Cinemas Kapali in Bengaluru.

The issue does not amount to a complete suspension of bookings, as some venues have already started accepting reservations. Instead, the reported disagreement concerns the commercial terms behind the wider rollout.

Ramayana is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5. The report concerns advance ticket sales, not a change to its theatrical release date.
