Police Company, starring Harshvardhan Rane, is set to reach cinemas on June 4, 2027. Ram Gopal Varma shared the release-date announcement on X before returning to the idea behind the crime drama’s title in a fresh post on October 21.
The filmmaker drew a distinction between the police as an institution and a company as a money-making organisation. His argument was that an institution can begin to resemble a company when its powers extend beyond a certain point.
“Hence the name Police Company,” he wrote. The post revisits a concept Varma had also discussed when the project was announced earlier this year.

Backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, Police Company features Rane as Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Varma has described the film as being inspired by real events and people connected to the city’s underworld conflicts.
The story focuses on police operations between 1997 and 2004. According to the filmmaker, it examines the circumstances surrounding the deaths of around 300 gangsters during that period, shifting attention from the criminal world to the officers confronting it.
Varma has positioned the film as a look at the police side of the world explored in Company. The latest posts bring that premise back into focus alongside the confirmed June 2027 theatrical release.
