Ramayana: Part One sets JioHotstar pay-per-view release after theatrical run

Ramayana: Part One will be available to watch on JioHotstar through a pay-per-view model after its exclusive theatrical run. The partnership with producer Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios will let audiences in India purchase access to the film separately through the platform’s on-demand offering.

There is no confirmed digital release date yet, and the viewing price has not been disclosed. For now, the announcement establishes how the film will reach audiences at home without changing its planned cinema release.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part One is scheduled to open worldwide on November 5, 2026, during Diwali. It will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English, with IMAX 3D screenings also planned.

Malhotra said the project was conceived for the biggest possible screen, particularly IMAX 3D. At the same time, he acknowledged that India’s cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone who wants to experience the epic. He described the JioHotstar partnership as a way to bring the film to viewers’ homes once its theatrical run is complete.

JioStar chairperson Nita M. Ambani spoke about making the adaptation accessible to families across the country and introducing its themes to a new generation. The platform says the film will be offered across supported devices at the highest quality its service supports.

The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey, alongside Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal.

Planned as a two-part live-action adaptation, Ramayana has a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan, drawn from Valmiki’s epic. Prime Focus Studios is producing it in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman are composing the music.

Further details about the pay-per-view release, including its availability date and viewing price, are still awaited.
