Yo Yo Honey Singh appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on October 16 to record his statement in a case concerning alleged obscene remarks at a Delhi concert. The singer was reportedly questioned for more than two hours before leaving without speaking to the media.
The appearance followed a fresh summons from investigators. Singh had reportedly missed three earlier summons, citing his stay abroad. Before his scheduled appearance on Friday, a senior Cyber Cell official had warned that authorities could initiate the process for a Look Out Circular if he failed to turn up again.
The complaint concerns remarks allegedly made during a concert in Delhi in January 2026. A clip from the performance circulated on social media, drawing criticism from viewers who found his language objectionable.
A Mumbai resident subsequently approached the cyber police with a complaint. Maharashtra Cyber police registered a case and began investigating the matter, leading to the summons issued to the singer.
Singh had earlier addressed the controversy through a video apology. He explained that, seeing a large number of Gen Z audience members, he had tried to communicate in language he thought would connect with them. He acknowledged that the way he expressed himself was inappropriate and had offended people.
“I deeply regret that the way I expressed this message was inappropriate,” he said, offering an apology for his choice of words.
His statement has now been recorded as part of the investigation. Singh did not publicly comment on the questioning while leaving the Cyber Cell premises.
