Putting an end to speculations, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar took to his Instagram account to clarify recent reports about the upcoming film Dhadak 2. Johar denied the rumours that actors Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri would be starring in the movie. In a statement on his Instagram story, Johar wrote, “To put this on record and for all concerned, we (Dharma Productions) are NOT making a film with the title Dhadak 2 as is being reported in various articles.”
According to popular media reports, a source revealed that the film would be directed by Shazia Iqbal, making her directorial debut. Both Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri were said to be excited to feature in a raw and intense love story. The film was expected to commence production in the second half of this year, with script reading sessions and acting workshops for the leads planned beforehand.
Detailing the preparations for the film, the source added, “The film requires them to be in a rooted set up, with slight raw treatment to the story, which can only be polished through workshops.” This highlights the team’s dedication towards honing their craft and delivering a stellar performance on screen. Furthermore, the report mentioned that besides the father character, there were other roles in the film that required credible actors.
Although Karan Johar has denied the title Dhadak 2, the report suggests that a love story is indeed in the works, albeit it may or may not be titled as such. This has piqued the curiosity of fans, who are eagerly anticipating further updates on the project.
Dhadak, originally a remake of the Marathi film Sairat, marked the debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. It was directed by Shashank Khaitan and received positive responses from the audience.
On the work front, Siddhant Chaturvedi is set to star in Zoya Akhtar’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan alongside Adarsh Gourav and Ananya Panday. Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri was last seen in the film Qala and has an upcoming project with Vicky Kaushal.
