Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Nishikant Kamat succumbed to Liver Cirrhosis at an age of 50 on Monday evening. The director was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad days ago due to a relapse of Liver Cirrhosis and he succumbed to the disease after fighting long.
Earlier today, Riteish Deshmukh had urged everyone for restrained and refuted prematurely claims of the director’s demise. The actor had informed that Kamat was on ventilator support fighting for his life. In the evening, Ritiesh Deshmukh took to his Twitter handle to break the unfortunate news and wrote, ” will miss you my friend Nishikant Kamat. Rest in peace.” Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn also took to the microblogging site to share his grief and wrote, “My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon.”

Nishikant Kamat has directed a number of memorable movies including Force, Rocky Handsome, Lai Bhaari, Mumbai Meri Jaan, and Drishyam. The filmmaker is also known for helming many successful Marathi language movies and also acted in movies like Fugay, Hava Aney Dey and Saatchya Aat Gharat. His directorial debut, Dombivali Fast, won the National Award for Best Marathi Film of the year.
