A biopic of Swatantra Veer Savarkar was announced on his 138th birth anniversary and since then the project has been one of the most anticipated ones. Earlier, it was informed that the makers have contacted three actors to play the freedom fighter on screen and now the latest report suggests that Ayushmann Khurrana is the top pick for the makers.

To be helmed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the much-anticipated biopic has been in the news lately for the lead cast and the makers were having a dilemma zeroing down to one actor. The team had Randeep Hooda, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao running for the top contenders. The makers were reportedly in advanced talks with the three actors and seem like Ayushmann Khurrana will be the final call.

According to a source close to the development of the project, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao expressed their interests in the project and the makers have decided to continue further with Ayushmann. The movie is touted to be mounted on a big scale and the producers are preferring to put their bets on a bankable actor like Ayushmann with a good track record at the box office. An announcement is likely to happen once both parties come to an agreement.
