Rohit Shetty’s cop drama, Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead has been due for a release for almost a year now. Due to the ongoing pandemic and associated lockdown, the makers had to postpone the release of the movie and the last confirmed release date was April 2. However, the latest reports claim that the movie has been postponed one more time for a long weekend.

Given the rise in Coronavirus cases in the state of Maharashtra, the makers have decided to postpone the release of Sooryavanshi for four more weeks. According to a source close to the development of the movie, the makers have locked in 30 April for the release of the cop-drama starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the leads. The exhibitors have also been told to book screens for Sooryavanshi.

While the new release days lies in the holy month of Ramzan, the makers will also be at an advantage with the Maharashtra Day holiday on May 1. While there has been no official announcement from the team regarding the new release date, the report further suggests that the official announcement with a new movie poster and release date will be unveiled on March 14.

Helmed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi features Akshay Kumar in the titular character along with Katrina Kaif as his love interest. The action-drama will also have cameos from Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn reprising their respective characters of Simmba and Singham in the Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe.
