Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal went on to become one of the most successful movies of this year as it was well-received by the critics and the audience, alike. The movie with an ensemble cast of Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Tapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, and Nithya Menen alongside Akshay Kumar released worldwide on 15 August.
The movie chronicles the story of India’s Mars Orbital Mission and tells the struggles faced by the scientists of ISRO. The movie has collected 165 crore INR at the box office so far and now the movie has been declared tax-free in the state of Maharashtra to reach a broader audience.
Akshay Kumar earlier said that he had made the movie mainly for children to encourage them to become a scientist. “Scientist as a profession is not very likeable, but now after ISRO’s launch of the Chandrayaan, people are gradually becoming more aware of it and taking interest in it. I hope this film helps to spread the fact that what a great profession it is,” he said.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar starrer Padman and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha were declared tax-free and now Jagan Shakti directorial joins the list.
