Renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta has officially announced his next directorial venture, featuring Saif Ali Khan in the lead. This marks their first collaboration, heightening curiosity about the project. Mehta shared the news with Mid-Day during the Cinevesture International Film Festival in Chandigarh, revealing that the film is an adaptation of a book. However, further details about the source material remain under wraps.
Having last directed Kareena Kapoor Khan in The Buckingham Murders, Mehta expressed his enthusiasm for working with her husband. He has long hoped to collaborate with Saif Ali Khan, making this upcoming film particularly special.
While working with Khan, Mehta remains eager to reunite with Kareena Kapoor Khan and has already sent her a script. He praised her dedication and professionalism, stating, “Every time I look at a script, I ask, ‘Can we do something with Kareena?’ She is one of the most prepared persons on set, a thorough professional, and always happy. It was as if I was working with Pratik [Gandhi] or Rajkummar [Rao].”
Beyond this film, Mehta has several exciting projects in the pipeline. His highly anticipated web series Gandhi is in development, alongside an action film, previously rumoured to star Lakshya. Though he confirmed the project, he kept the cast details undisclosed.
Mehta has also launched his own production house, setting the stage for multiple ventures. His upcoming slate includes an outrageous comedy, a slasher film, and a potential zombie thriller, alongside an unconventional love story in the works. With such a diverse mix of projects, the filmmaker is gearing up for a dynamic and thrilling phase in his career.
