Ranveer Singh’s Pralay on track, zombie thriller to begin shoot in August 2026

Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Pralay continues to generate strong buzz, especially after recent rumours suggested the project had hit a roadblock. However, fresh updates indicate that the zombie thriller is very much on track, with shooting expected to begin in August 2026.

The actor, coming off the success of the Dhurandhar franchise, had earlier committed to filmmaker Jai Mehta’s next directorial. Reports in recent weeks hinted at creative differences between the actor and the director, raising questions about the film’s progress. These claims have now been dismissed by a source close to the production.

According to the insider, the team has already locked the script and moved into pre-production. Preparations are underway to mount the film on a large scale, with the makers aiming to deliver a spectacle unlike anything seen before in Indian cinema. As of now, the project remains on schedule for an August 2026 shoot.

With pre-production in motion, the film is expected to move through key stages such as location scouting, concept design, action planning, VFX development, and casting.

Pralay is being described as a post-apocalyptic action thriller set in a dystopian world, with a strong focus on the zombie genre. While zombie films have found global success, the genre remains relatively underexplored at this scale in mainstream Hindi cinema, making this project particularly ambitious.

The film is directed by Jai Mehta and written by him along with Vishal Kapoor. It is backed by Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films and Ranveer Singh’s Maa Kasam Films, in association with Applause Entertainment. Industry reports suggest that the film is being planned on a massive budget of around Rs 300 crore.

Ranveer Singh is said to be excited about stepping into a new genre and experimenting with a fresh on-screen avatar. While the actor has not officially announced his next project beyond this, discussions about a potential collaboration with Aditya Dhar have also been making the rounds.

With strong momentum in pre-production and an ambitious vision in place, Pralay is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing projects in Ranveer Singh’s upcoming lineup.
