Ranbir Kapoor’s packed slate of upcoming films appears to have pushed Animal Park further down the priority list, with the actor indicating that his immediate focus remains on Ramayana and Love & War rather than the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Animal.
Recent comments from Kapoor suggest that Animal Park has not been shelved, but it is unlikely to begin production anytime soon. The actor has explained that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently occupied with Spirit, meaning the much-anticipated sequel will have to wait until both their schedules align. Earlier this year, Kapoor also confirmed that the project remains in development, while acknowledging that fans will need to be patient before cameras start rolling.
The latest development has also reignited discussion about another long-awaited franchise, Brahmastra. Kapoor has previously expressed confidence that the fantasy universe will continue, although an official production schedule for the next instalment has yet to be announced. Reports have suggested that the sequel remains part of the long-term plan, but there has been no formal confirmation regarding when filming will begin.
At the moment, Kapoor’s calendar is dominated by two ambitious productions. He is leading Ramayana, one of the biggest Indian film projects currently in production, while simultaneously working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. During a recent public appearance, Kapoor also dismissed speculation linking him to Dhoom 4 and stated that his attention is firmly on these two films, without offering a fresh timeline for Animal Park.
Although the delay may disappoint fans eager to see the next chapter of Animal, it does not appear to signal the end of the franchise. The sequel was announced after the success of the original film, and both Kapoor and Vanga have previously spoken enthusiastically about returning to the story once their current commitments are complete.
For now, Kapoor’s immediate future belongs to Ramayana and Love & War, while Animal Park and the next Brahmastra instalment remain major projects waiting for the right production window. Unless an official announcement changes those plans, both films are expected to move forward only after the actor and filmmakers complete their existing commitments.
