Moviemakers are usually suspected of conspiring controversies on their own to promote their movies. However, Yash Raj Films got caught in a legal trouble post the release of their movie, Fan, when a moviegoer claimed feeling “deceived, disappointed and dejected” after watching the Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Afreen Fatima Zaidi, who watched the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan in theatres, claimed that she felt deceived as the makers included the song ‘Jabra Fan‘ in the trailer but excluded it from the movie and filed a legal case against the makers. The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) held the exclusion of song ‘Jabra Fan’ as “unfair trade practice” and said that any person who went to watch the movie based on the song in promotion is bound to feel “deceived, disappointed and dejected”.

With the observation, the NCDRC directed film production house, Yash Raj Films, to pay INR 10,000 as a compensation to the petitioner along with litigation cost of INR 5,000. On the other hand, Yash Raj Films filed a contention that the producer and the actor of the movie had publically informed that the song would be excluded from the movie. However, the commission rejected the appeal considering it insufficient claim.
