Rajat Kapoor has reportedly joined the cast of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming science-fiction action thriller Samuk. The actor-filmmaker is expected to play a pivotal role, although details about his character are being kept under wraps.
Directed by Kanishk Varma, the film is currently being shot in the United Kingdom. It is being developed as a large-scale theatrical production combining science fiction, action and survival elements.
The makers reportedly wanted an actor capable of bringing a distinct presence to the ensemble and considered Rajat suitable for the part. His character is said to carry considerable importance within the story.
Rajat has appeared in both character-driven and mainstream films during his career, including Monsoon Wedding, Bheja Fry, Kapoor & Sons, Mulk, Drishyam, Drishyam 2 and Gehraiyaan. His recent projects include Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders and Main Vaapas Aaunga.
Samuk reunites Akshay Kumar with producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah after 13 years. The project has reportedly been under development for more than two years and is now progressing through its UK production schedule.
Vipul is producing the film under Sunshine Pictures, while Aashin A Shah serves as co-producer. Further information about Rajat’s character and the remaining cast has not been announced.
