Released in the year 2003, Tere Naam proved as a turning point in the career of Salman Khan and became one of the most iconic movies of his acting career. Starring Salman Khan and debutant Bhumika Chawla in the lead roles, Tere Naam managed to earn critical and commercial success at the box office.

The movie known for its superhit soundtrack was earlier named after the lead character of Salman Khan, ‘Radhe’, which is also the central character in the entire movie. However, after the production of the movie was completed, the makers decided to change the name of the movie to ‘Jaan Tere Naam’.

The title ‘Jaan Tere Naam’ was based on the song sung by Udit Narayan and composed by Himesh Reshammiya which was the USP of the movie. However, the makers decided to cut short the title to just ‘Tere Naam’ which was finalized before announcing the movie for a release date.

The remake of the Tamil language movie Sethu starring Vikram, Tere Naam went on to create a separate fanbase for the actor and his hairstyle became a national trend. The movie earned 24 award nominations including 8 Filmfare Award nominations.
