Ramayana Part One may skip Diwali 2026 release, makers considering earlier debut: Reports

Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is currently targeting a major 2026 theatrical release. While the film was initially expected to arrive during the Diwali festive window, reports now suggest that the makers are considering releasing it a week earlier instead.

According to industry sources, discussions are underway to prepone the release of Ramayana: Part One to October 30, 2026. The strategy reportedly aims to allow the film enough time to establish strong word of mouth before the Diwali holiday period begins.

The idea behind the move is said to be creating long-term momentum rather than relying solely on opening weekend numbers. Insiders claim the makers are hoping the festive season could help the film grow even bigger in its second week, potentially redefining box office trends for large-scale Indian releases.

The final decision on the release date is expected to be taken soon. Reports also suggest that the official announcement may happen once the makers lock the film’s distribution deal. Industry buzz indicates that negotiations are currently underway with leading distributors for a deal reportedly valued at around Rs 450 crore.

The film boasts one of the biggest ensemble casts in recent Indian cinema, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.

The first glimpse of the film, released earlier this year, generated significant attention for its scale and visual presentation.

Meanwhile, Ramayana: Part Two is still scheduled for a Diwali 2027 release, exactly one year after the first instalment.
