Ranveer Singh’s upcoming zombie thriller Pralay is reportedly aiming to raise the bar for the horror genre with realistic creature effects. According to the latest reports, the makers are in discussions with members of the prosthetics team behind the acclaimed horror film 28 Days Later.
The team is reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing internationally recognised prosthetics artists on board to create the zombie makeup and practical effects for the film. The goal is said to be achieving a realistic and terrifying look for the infected characters instead of relying heavily on visual effects.
Reports suggest that the names being considered include Lisa Crawley, Adrian Getley, Barrie Gower and Kate Hill, all of whom were associated with the prosthetics department of 28 Days Later. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding their involvement.
Pralay is being directed by Jai Mehta and is expected to explore the zombie survival genre, a space that has rarely been attempted in mainstream Hindi cinema. The screenplay has been co-written by Jai Mehta and Vishal Kapoor.
The film’s first major shooting schedule is reportedly planned in Australia. Although the story is set in a zombie-ravaged Mumbai, the overseas location has been chosen for its varied landscapes, which are expected to help recreate the film’s post-apocalyptic setting.
The reports also state that the makers are expected to finalise the prosthetics team before principal photography begins. If the discussions are successful, the collaboration could add an international touch to the film’s practical effects.
Pralay has remained one of Ranveer Singh’s most talked-about upcoming projects since its announcement. While the makers have kept the plot under wraps, the latest update has further fuelled curiosity about the scale and visual ambition of the zombie thriller.
As of now, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed either the reported discussions with the prosthetics team or the final production schedule.
