The movie office success of Kantara, which has continued unabatedly, shows no signs of slowing down. On its second Wednesday, the movie made an estimated 4.50 crores at the box office, bringing its overall collections to about Rs. 58.50 crores, of which Rs. 56.25 crores have come from Karnataka. The movie has made around Rs. 32 crores in six days of the second week; the total for the week will be about Rs. 36 crores approx.
It is just unbelievable that the movie is doing such brisk business with barely any daily collecting dips. At the beginning of the second week, the movie had a strong second Friday, and as of right now, every weekday has outperformed the second Friday. Such trends occasionally occur in the first week, as they did last week, but in this case, they have persisted into the second week as well. The movie is now outpacing KGF Chapter 2 in daily collections in Karnataka by a significant 50% margin.
After KGF 2 (Rs. 171.50 crores) and RRR (Rs. 86 crores), Kantara is now the third-highest-grossing movie of the year in Karnataka; it will pass the latter in either the third week or fourth weekend. The current state of the movie makes a target of at least Rs. 100 crores look extremely realistic. The movie has to maintain a third-week gross of at least Rs. 20 crores in order to break the three-digit barrier; however, given how well weekdays are doing, this shouldn’t be a problem.
The movie’s dubbed versions will be released the following week; the Tamil and Hindi versions will release on Saturday and Friday, respectively. The film may score a massive all-India figure if the dubbed versions could get even a small portion of the positive response it is receiving in Karnataka.
