John Abraham is reportedly set to headline filmmaker Ribhu Dasgupta’s next thriller. The currently untitled project will be produced by Reliance Entertainment and is expected to begin filming in London this month.
Details about the film’s storyline and John’s role are being kept under wraps. However, the part is expected to present a different side of the actor and give him an opportunity to explore a more layered, performance-focused space within the thriller genre.
The role reportedly requires a combination of physical intensity and emotional depth. John is also believed to be closely involved in understanding and preparing for the character as the production team gets ready to commence filming.
The project marks the first collaboration between John Abraham and Ribhu Dasgupta. The filmmaker has previously directed thrillers such as Te3n and The Girl on the Train, and his experience with mystery-driven stories makes the upcoming collaboration an interesting addition to John’s filmography.
Pre-production work is currently progressing ahead of the London schedule. Further details about the title, supporting cast and release plans are expected to emerge once principal photography begins.
At the same time, John is undergoing a physical transformation for another upcoming film, Maria IPS, directed by Rohit Shetty. The actor will portray police officer Rakesh Maria in the project, which covers different periods of the officer’s life.
For Maria IPS, John reportedly gained weight to film the younger portions of the character before losing it for scenes set during the later stages of his life. The two projects are expected to present the actor with contrasting physical and performance-related challenges.
With the London schedule of Ribhu Dasgupta’s thriller expected to begin this month, the untitled film has now become another major addition to John Abraham’s upcoming lineup. An official announcement revealing the complete cast, title and release date is still awaited.
