Television’s iconic Business tycoon and heartthob Barun Sobti a.k.a Arnav Singh Raizada from Star Plus’s Is Pyaar ko Kya Naam Doon (IPKKND), is all set to make his second inning’s in Bollywood with his upcoming ’22 Yards’.
Directed by former sports journalist Mitali Ghoshal, the movie set in Kolkata chronicles around a game that’s considered as a religion in India- Cricket.
Taking a leaf from his television show, Barun plays a hotshot successful businessman Ron Sen, an agent who runs a sports management company and a huge fan of cricket. He represents talents, markets them and gets them the best deals and sponsorship possible, until the day he faces a major fall.
To redeem it all, he has to do what no other sports agent has ever done before. His character Ron would be seen helping an underdog played by Amartya Ray achieve his 22 Yards dream and ambition, while himself growing and understanding his flaws in the journey.
Post his successful stint in IPKKND in 2012, Barun made his bollywood debut opposite Shenaz Treasury in Main Aur Mr Riight in 2014 which bombed at the box office, followed by Milind Dhaimade’s comedy drama Tu Hai Mera Sunday in 2016 which received rave reviews from critics as well as the audience.
The movie has been in the making for good few years, after many delays in the production it is finally seeing the light of the day. It was premiered in the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival (BASAFF) last year where it received positive response.
The cricket drama also stars Rajit Kapur, Panchi Bora, Mrinal Mukherjee, Chaiti Ghoshal, Geetika Tyagi and Rajesh Sharma in pivotal roles.
Mark your calendar for ’22 Yards’, as the movie will be hitting the theatres on 22nd February 2019.
