A biopic on the Olympian sharp-shooter Abhinav Bindra was announced years ago with Anil Kapoor and son Harshvarrdhan Kapoor playing the father-son characters. However, after years of script revisions and changes in the production house, reports suggest that the plug has been pulled out on the project.
According to a source close to the development of the movie, the makers have decided to shelve the biopic and the father-son duo has already moved ahead to filming a different project. Anil Kapoor and Harshvarrdhan Kapoor has started filming Raj Singh Choudhary directorial Thar in Rajasthan along with Fatima Sana Shaikh. The movie is being shot for the OTT platform Netflix and stars the three in key roles.
On the other hand, the untitled Abhinav Bindra biopic was to be helmed by Ek Thi Daayan director Kannan Iyer. The movie would have also brought together Anil Kapoor and his son on the big screen for the first time if the plan had materialized as expected. Earlier, the role of Abhinav Bindra was also offered to Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan but neither of the actors signed the dotted line.
