Featuring Joaquin Phoenix in a never-before-seen avatar, Tod Phillips’ Joker was an instant hit at the box office and Joaquin was lauded for his portrayal of the Crown Prince of Crime. The standalone supervillain origin story was loved by the audience and critics alike and fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel to the crime thriller. Filmmaker Todd Phillips had earlier confirmed a sequel and we can expect Lady Gaga to play Joker‘s love interest.
As per the reports close to the development of the project, Lady Gaga is in talks with filmmakers for a key role in the sequel to the Oscar-winning film. While the details of her character have been kept under wraps, it is being alleged that Lady Gaga is likely to play Joker’s love interest and his sidekick, Harley Quinn. It is likely to be the origin story of Harley which will be different from Margot Robbie’s version of the supervillain.
Just a week ago, director Todd Phillips officially confirmed the sequel is currently underway with a script already prepared. Titled Joker: Folie à deux, the sequel is being penned down by Phillips and Scott Silver as per the credits on the post shared by the filmmaker. In English, the subtitled phrase “Folie à deux” translates to “shared psychosis,” and refers to a psychiatric syndrome involving delusions being transmitted between two people.
