American singer Ariana Grande took legal measure to act against the clothing company, Forever 21, along with the spinoff beauty brand Riley Rose. The singer alleged the company of stealing her “name, likeness and other intellectual property to promote their brands for free.”
Ariana’s legal team alleges that the clothing brand had approached the singer last year for an endorsement deal but the singer explicitly declined the offer claiming Forever 21’s unwillingness to pay the fair market value for a celebrity of Ms. Grande’s stature.
However, the brand allegedly used her lookalike for the promotion as claimed by the suit. The documents claim that Forever 21 and Riley Rose published 30 unauthorized images and videos “misappropriating Ms. Grande’s name, image, likeness and music in order to create the false perception of her endorsement.” and attached screenshots of the same.
Ariana Grande is seeking an amount of 10 million USD for copyright infringement, trademark infringement along with other alleged offences. On the other hand, Forever 21 refused to comment on the lawsuit and said that they look forward to resolving the issues and work with the singer in future.
