In 2023, it was revealed that Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan would be teaming up again for a full-fledged comedy produced by Ekta Kapoor. Now, after a year and a half, the celebrated duo behind some of Indian cinema’s most beloved comedies have announced their latest collaboration: a horror-comedy titled Bhooth Bangla. The film has quickly become one of the most anticipated releases of 2025.
According to insiders, the project will see the return of the comedic trio Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani, who have brought laughter to audiences for years. “This team has always managed to entertain viewers of all ages. Bhooth Bangla is the perfect script for their reunion, with each character guaranteed to bring out laughs. The aim is to create a unique comic experience, blending humour with elements of horror,” shared a source close to the project.
Bhooth Bangla is expected to start filming in early 2025 and is set for a release by the end of the year. “Akshay Kumar announced the film on his birthday, knowing fans’ excitement for this reunion. He’s confident the script will uphold the legacy of his collaborations with Priyadarshan. The inclusion of Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani only adds to the excitement. Akshay will portray a classic Priyadarshan hero caught in a hilarious series of mishaps,” the source added.
The casting for the film is still underway, with three female leads yet to be finalized. “Pre-production and casting are in full swing,” confirmed the insider.
This will be the seventh time Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have teamed up, following successful films like Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhaag, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan, and Khatta Meetha.
