Collecting a surprising Rs. 27.15 cr, The Kashmir Files manages to outperform last year’s release Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 that collected Rs. 12.68 cr to become the fourth-highest opening weekend grosser post the pandemic. Though the business of the film does not surpass previous releases like Sooryavanshi collected Rs. 77.08 cr, 83 that collected Rs. 47 cr, and Gangubai Kathiawadi that collected Rs. 39.12 cr, it does manage to surpass certain others like Badhaai Do that collected Rs. 7.82 cr, and Jhund that had collected Rs. 5.58 cr.
Currently, The Kashmir Files continues to enjoy the audiences’ favour as their first choice in theatres. If that wasn’t enough, given the fact that the film has seen an increase in the total number of screens and daily shows it is expected to continue to rake in the moolah. At the current growth rate, trade estimates state that if The Kashmir Files continues with the current trend it could easily become one of the highest grossers of the year.
The film is produced by Zee Studios and is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi.
