Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for one last high-octane mission in Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, hitting Indian theatres this Saturday, May 17, 2025. The final instalment of the iconic franchise is off to a flying start even before release, with advance ticket sales indicating a major opening at the Indian box office.
As of Wednesday 5:30 PM, over 50,000 tickets have already been sold across major cinema chains — PVRInox leads the pack with 38,000 tickets, followed by Cinepolis with 12,500. The film is seeing particularly strong traction in IMAX screens and Southern India, suggesting widespread excitement among moviegoers.
With over two days still to go before release, industry insiders are expecting advance sales to cross 1.5 lakh tickets, potentially making this the biggest Indian opening for a Mission Impossible film to date.
Projections for opening day collections are soaring, with the film aiming to surpass the ₹15 crore mark, possibly even touching ₹20 crore, comfortably outpacing the previous entries, Dead Reckoning (₹12.25 crore) and Fallout (₹9.50 crore). The Saturday release is expected to play in the film’s favour, as Hollywood films tend to draw maximum footfall on weekends.
Although releasing on a Saturday is an unusual move, it could boost the movie’s day-one performance and perception. The film is eyeing a ₹45 crore+ two-day total, with strong hopes of entering the ₹100 crore club in India, and becoming the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. Currently, Dead Reckoning holds the top spot with ₹106 crore in lifetime collections.
With no major competitors until Housefull 5 arrives on June 6, and assuming good word of mouth, The Final Reckoning is well-positioned for a stellar run in Indian theatres.
