Karan Johar is reportedly expanding Dharma Productions’ theatrical lineup with two ambitious creature-based films. The studio is expected to begin filming both projects towards the end of 2026.
The first project is being planned as a large-scale creature feature with mythological elements. The second will reportedly take a lighter route by combining a high-concept creature premise with comedy.
Both films are said to be driven by their central concepts, with Dharma planning to mount them on a considerable scale. However, their official titles and story details have not been disclosed.
Casting information for the two projects is also being kept under wraps. One of the films will reportedly be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sandeep Modi, known for his work on Aarya and The Night Manager. It has not been revealed which of the two projects he will helm.
One of the films is expected to be officially announced through a specially created video that will be shown in cinemas alongside Ramayana during Diwali. Further details about the announcement campaign are awaited.
The two creature projects form part of Dharma Productions’ expanding slate, which also includes films based on R N Kao, Radha and Krishna, and Gadadhari Bheem.
Dharma is currently preparing for the release of Udta Teer, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. The studio also has Kuku Ki Kundali and Lag Ja Gale lined up for release in 2027.
