The ensemble cast of Malamaal Weekly 2 continues to grow, with Fardeen Khan and Mahesh Manjrekar becoming the latest actors to join the upcoming comedy.
Fardeen has appeared in projects across different genres since returning to acting and will now step back into the comedy space. The actor has previously been appreciated for his performances in comic entertainers, making him a suitable addition to the sequel’s ensemble.
Mahesh Manjrekar has also signed the film and is expected to play a quirky character. His role has been designed to complement the chaotic comic setting at the centre of the story.
The two actors join a cast that already includes Raveena Tandon, Parineeti Chopra, Shilpa Shirodkar, Elvish Yadav and Rajpal Yadav. The film will mark Shilpa’s return to Hindi cinema after a gap of 26 years.
Malamaal Weekly 2 will be directed by Amit Joshi, who previously co-directed Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The project is expected to begin filming in November 2026.
Although the sequel will feature an entirely new storyline, it will preserve the central thematic flavour of the original film. The narrative will once again revolve around ordinary people living in a small town whose lives are shaped by poverty, greed and the possibility of sudden wealth.
Further details about the complete cast, character names and release date have not yet been announced.
