Gauahar Khan is speaking out against the misinformation surrounding Caesarean deliveries, following recent comments made by actor Suniel Shetty that sparked a wave of criticism online.<\/p>\n
During an interview, Suniel Shetty praised his daughter Athiya Shetty for opting for a natural birth and referred to C-section deliveries as “a comfort everyone wants.” His remark didn\u2019t sit well with many, including Gauahar, who used the debut episode of her digital show MaaaNoranjan to address the issue head-on.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a statement made by a prominent figure recently suggesting that C-sections are the \u2018easier\u2019 option,\u201d Gauahar said, visibly upset. \u201cI felt like shouting \u2014 how can someone even say that?\u201d She emphasised how such narratives minimise the very real pain and challenges involved in both forms of childbirth.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s this myth that C-sections are the easy way out. How can there be so much misinformation? Especially from someone who\u2019s never been pregnant, never carried a child, and can\u2019t possibly understand the physical and emotional toll a C-section can take,\u201d she continued. Gauahar stressed that the decision between a vaginal delivery and a C-section is often not within a woman’s control \u2014 and neither defines a mother’s strength or love.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome women are able to deliver naturally, some need medical intervention \u2014 both are valid, both are powerful,\u201d she asserted. \u201cOpting for a C-section doesn\u2019t make you any less of a mother.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also addressed a personal question she\u2019s frequently asked: whether she had a natural or C-section delivery. \u201cI don\u2019t know why this is such a hot topic,\u201d she said. \u201cBoth delivery methods are equally challenging and beautiful. But since people keep asking \u2014 yes, I had a C-section when I gave birth to my son, Zehaan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gauahar\u2019s honest and impassioned take has been widely praised online for busting harmful myths around childbirth. In response to the backlash, Suniel Shetty has issued an apology, stating that his comments were taken out of context and expressing regret for the misunderstanding.<\/p>\n
