The much-anticipated WAVES Summit 2025 officially launched today, May 1, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The star-studded event marked the beginning of what is envisioned as India’s premier global platform for the future of audio-visual entertainment, drawing the presence of major Bollywood icons and political dignitaries.

Shah Rukh Khan, who opened the event, welcomed the guests with his trademark charm and humility. “It’s a privilege to welcome everyone to the first edition of the WAVES Summit,” he said, addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Bowing respectfully to them, SRK continued, “This summit is more than just an event—it’s a powerful meeting point for creators, innovators, and disruptors. A fusion of art and technology, WAVES represents the future of our industry. Let’s kick things off with a grand musical performance composed especially by Oscar-winning composer M M Keeravani.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the gathering, highlighting Indian cinema’s global influence: “The world has long celebrated Indian films—from Raj Kapoor and Satyajit Ray to the recent success of RRR at the Oscars.”

Veteran actor Nagarjuna paid homage to the timeless influence of Indian storytellers, saying, “India is a land where stories shape hearts and generations. At WAVES, we celebrate another historic chapter. As we mark the centenary of five cinematic legends, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, along with the Department of Post, is releasing a commemorative set of stamps in honour of Guru Dutt, Ritwik Ghatak, Salil Chowdhury, Raj Khosla, and P. Bhanumati. I am deeply thankful to the I&B Ministry and the Hon’ble Prime Minister for their commitment to preserving our cinematic heritage.”

Delegates and industry leaders enthusiastically participated in the event, which saw large numbers of attendees witness this milestone celebration. With immense energy, creativity, and vision in the air, WAVES Summit 2025 began on a high note, setting the tone for meaningful conversations and innovative collaborations that will shape the future of Indian entertainment.
