Vicky Kaushal is set to portray the legendary Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming biopic, Sam Bahadur. The film delves into the life of Manekshaw, who played a crucial role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war and worked closely with former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. While a teaser of the movie was released a few weeks ago, the official trailer’s release date has now been confirmed for November 7.
On Monday, the production team behind Sam Bahadur, RSVP Movies, shared the exciting news on social media. They emphasized that the film narrates the story of a man who devoted his life to the Indian Army and to his nation.

Sam Manekshaw, the central character of the biopic, served as the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian Army officer to attain the rank of field marshal. Manekshaw played a pivotal role in the creation of Bangladesh in 1971, and he was known for his compassionate treatment of Prisoners of War. His retirement in June 1972 was extended by six months, and he was promoted to the rank of field marshal on January 1, 1973, becoming the first Indian Army officer to achieve this distinction.
In Sam Bahadur, the film showcases a talented ensemble cast, including Sanya Malhotra in the role of Sam Manekshaw’s wife, Siloo, and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi. The movie also features Neeraj Kabi as Jawaharlal Nehru, among others. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Sam Bahadur is scheduled for release on December 1, 2023.
