Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal has expressed interest in performing in a historical film. He previously committed to projects such as Takht and The Immortal Ashwatthama, but they have been delayed. In the meantime, Vicky has signed another historical biopic based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. This is the third historical film that he has signed, and it will be directed by Laxman Utekar, with whom he is also working on a romantic comedy.
In the upcoming project, Vicky Kaushal will play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, also known as Sambhaji Bhosale, was the second ruler of the Maratha Empire and the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He held the throne from 1681 to 1689. The movie is currently in the pre-production phase and the script has been completed. The actor has agreed to be part of the film and an official announcement will be made at a later date.
According to the media portal, Peeping Moon, the movie will be produced by Maddock Films, owned by Dinesh Vijan. Laxman Utekar, the director of films such as Luka Chuppi and Mimi, has been wanting to make a film about Sambhaji Raje for a long time, and this will be his passion project which he will put all his effort to make it grand.
The upcoming project will mark the sixth time that Vicky Kaushal will play a role inspired by real-life events or a real-life person. He has previously taken on such roles in films such as Raazi, Sanju, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Sardar Udham and the upcoming film Sam Bahadur.
