Indian actor Vicky Kaushal has begin the filming of his upcoming biographical movie based on the life and valour of Sam Manekshaw, the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The movie was announced months ago and the fans have been eagerly waiting to see Vicky in another patriotic film based on real events.

Taking to his social media handle, Vicky Kaushal shared a short clip from the sets of Sam Bahadur in which the entire film crew of the film can be seen working on the project passionately. In the short clip showing the efforts of pre-production, we get to see director Meghna Gulzar as she prepares for the shot with her team. The video also features the leading trio – Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh as they undergo reading sessions.

Finally towards the end, the video teases the uncanny look of Vicky Kaushal as Sam Manekshaw. “Only Gratitude as we set out on this extremely special Journey. #Samबहादुर Now Filming! We are thankful for your continued support @indianarmy.adgpi @indianairforce @indiannavy @jehanmanekshaw @bottlesidlemind and the Manekshaw family,” the caption reads.

“I am fortunate to portray the role of a real-life hero and patriot who is still remembered and loved for his contributions to our country. There is a lot to learn and take back as an actor. With the amount of prep and hard work, the whole team has put in. I am sure the audiences will be thrilled to watch Sam’s mesmerising journey to make India what it is today,” Vicky Kaushal told IANS as he embarked on this journey with Meghna Gulzar.

Apart from Vicky Kaushal playing Sam Manekshaw, Fatima Sana Shaikh will play late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her Dangal co-star Sanya Malhotra will play Manekshaw’s wife.
