Vicky Kaushal became one of the most sought after actor after the humongous success of the thriller URI: The Surgical Strike which was based on real-life events. While the actor has a number of projects under production which includes the horror-thriller Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship and biopic period drama Sardar Udham Singh, Aditya Dhar’s superhero flick is expected to roll next year.

Aditya Dhar made his much-awaited directorial debut with URI: The Surgical Strike and just before the release of the actioner, the director narrated a superhero script to Vicky Kaushal and producer Ronnie Screwvala titled as The Immortal Ashwatthama. The actor and the producer immediately gave their nod to the project and Aditya started working on the script.

In a recent interview, Aditya Dhar informed that soft preparation for the project started a couple of months ago and the formal preparations will start in a fortnight. “We will shoot the entire film in a start-to-finish schedule and have shortlisted Greenland, Tokyo, New Zealand and Namibia as locations. I will be collaborating with teams from all over the world on the action,” added Aditya and said that the entire post-production, including VFX, will be done in the United States.

The actioner will be set in modern times with characters from the Mahabharata. While Ashwatthama is an immortal warrior born to Dronacharya and Kripi as per the mythology, he is arrogant and egoistic because of his immortality. Expressing his interest in the character, Aditya Dhar explained, “He is not perfect but then none of us are, which is what I love the most about him.”

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is busy shooting for his current work commitments, The Immortal Ashwatthama is expected to go on floors next year and will mark Vicky Kaushal’s debut in the superhero movies genre.
