On the birth anniversary of one of the greatest was heroes of the country, Sam Manekshaw, the title of his upcoming biopic has been announced. Starring Vicky Kaushal as the fearless patriot and the first Field Marshal of India, the Meghna Gulzar’s highly anticipated directorial has been titled Sam Bahadur.
Taking to the official social media handle, Vicky Kaushal shared a short title-reveal video and wrote, “The man. The legend. The brave heart. Our Samबहादुर… On the birth anniversary of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw, his story has found its name. #SamBahadur (sic)”.

Sam Manekshaw was the first Indian Army Officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal with a military career spanned four decades and five wars. Vicky Kaushal, who essays the titular role, said, “I had always heard stories about Sam Bahadur from my parents who hail from Punjab and have seen the 1971 war but when I read the script I was completely blown away. He is a hero and patriot who is still remembered and loved to this day and capturing his spirit in the film is of the highest importance to me.”
The first look of Vicky Kaushal as Sam Bahadur was revealed in 2019 marking Sam’s death anniversary. The look was well received by everyone for the striking resemblance between the actor and the war hero. The movie around the life and times of Sam Manekshaw, Sam Bahadur, is being bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala with Meghna Gulzar helming the project.
