The nationwide lockdown enforced to contain the spread of Coronavirus last year created mayhem for filmmakers and many projects which were about to get on the floors went to the attic. Following the ill-fate of many projects, a couple shelved projects saught a ray of hope this year and Shashank Khaitan’s comedy-drama, Mr Lele, is joining the bandwagon of projects being revived.
Varun Dhawan announced a collaboration with Shashank Khaitan last year for the comedy spy drama, Mr Lele and they also released a first-look poster for the same. However, after facing back to back flops, Varun Dhawan got serious with the selection of scripts and opted out of the Shashank Khaitan directorial. The movie was reportedly shelved just before the lockdown but the latest reports suggest that the makers have revived the project with a new cast.
As per the sources close to the development of the movie, Shashank Khaitan has reworked the script of the movie and approached Vicky Kaushal to play the lead. The actor who already has a lineup of upcoming projects in his calendar, reportedly, loved the concept and gave his nod immediately. While the movie was earlier supposed to have Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar playing key roles, the new cast is yet to be announced.
Helmed by Shashank Khaitan and featuring Vicky Kaushal, Mr Lele is expected to go on the floors in March with a month-long start to finish shooting schedule.
